Wey. It is not even just writing in Singapore that is hard. I am in school now and my productivity levels on the OTBM Chengkudu Chump Collective project have seriouly dovetailed. Ridikidonk really. I thought that writing while I was in school would be a walk in the park, but it is far from that. Luckily, my 'co-author' has taken the lead, and he has written some fantastic stories of late. I just wonder when we are going to get this finished.
There is a sense of urgency. There is a sense of ownership. The more I put aside writing the book to pursue academic work, the further I feel I am getting from the project that I love and want to finish. Sure, more level headed people have told me that two years is nothing in terms of book writing, that it takes first time authors maybe three or four years to produce their first work. I just dont see when I will be able to get away from this cycle of schoolwork. It just never ends. I put myself in the situation though, so I shouldnt complain too much. I just wonder, perhaps taking a semester off and having weekly 'creative session' at Walas will be just the thing I need to make the creative juices become free flowing again, as they were this summer.
Might I also mention that it is freezing cold in Michigan. It is 22 degrees. Being Singaporean, I usually abhor the non-metric system, but in this case, centrigrade does provide some minor psychological cover.
Here is to Liverpool putting Perrin on the job market this weekend.
