So who would bet that two chengkudu chumps would cycle all around Malaysia and live to write about it? Definately not our friends lah. They were betting money on our non-crossing of the Johor Causeway, on our return once we remembered that it was happy hour at Wala Wala after 4, or a thte very upper limit, two days into the trip.
But live we did lah. Stared sometime end of July 2004 and ended a whole 31 days and 2200 km (roughly lah, the odometer spoileded after a while) later, all with our 'own energy' (definition dependent) somemore. Shiok lah. Returned to Singapore nicely in time for Friday night festivities.
How do two unfit fellas cycle around Malaysia? With careful planning and lots of pre-trip preparation of course. Although none of our friends took us seriously when we said that we had 'lunch meetings' or that we couldnt go out at night because we had scheduled 'Malay lessons'.
And finally, the hardest part, actually writing the whole story out. It has taken over a whole year before we have finally started in earnest. And it is just getting difficult write now. How hard is it to write a book in Singapore anyway?
